My Mourning Doves

This tree is in my front yard. I noticed birds building a nest. I thought that Robins were actually building the nest but I was wrong.

See the nest more closely. Perfectly hidden in the tree.

Only I discovered that the nest belonged to the Mourning Doves.

These images are from a few weeks later than the first two.

Although I am sad to report that the Mourning Doves abandoned the nest. I believe a predator got a hold of the babies. I had seen a hawk only a few days after taking these images so I believe that the hawk got them. I had hoped so much to see the little nestlings and all. Maybe next year.
