Zoo Trip 7/Part 2

My boys headed back from the train ride.

We sat down to relax and cool off with some water. Eli decided to pour it on himself. He seemed a bit more refreshed after doing this.

Then we headed back to the barnyard area, made a donation and fed the animals some hay.

The boys enjoyed watching daddy do this and then it was time to clean our hands.
This is the new fun "game" for them.
Asa was terrified of the cow last year. He looks so cute trying to milk it now.

As we were leaving the barnyard area, one of the pens was being cleaned out and the hose was leaking. Well we thought for sure we would have to drag the boys through it. Boy were we wrong.

The butterfly house has more than Monarchs this year. So exciting. Still need to look this one up and try to update the name later.

Then we had a light snack. We shared two small bags of chips and a small bag of popcorn. Trisha even joined us while on her break.

Then we went on the carousel. Asa only rode once this day. Eli rode three times and would have ridden more had we let him.

Zoo Trip 7/Part 1 - Taking Trisha to Work

The petting bunnies are back.

Asa liked watching them.

Trisha hard at work on her first day on the zoo crew.

Asa was really into seeing the cows this day.

Then over to check out the chickens.

Next was the new turtles. I forget what kind this guy is.

But the African Hingeback was making an escape. We alerted the staff and showed them where he was at.

Then after the excitement of the "Great Turtle Escape" we went back to see the baby chicks and even got to pet them.

Asa decided that he wanted to pet the white one not the black one. The keeper was so thoughtful and obliged my finicky boy.

Eli wanted nothing to do with petting them.

Then Chris headed over to the train with the boys while I relaxed by the pond.

Eli's Eyes One Week Later

Here's Eli a week after his eye surgery. His eyes are actually turning out now but the doctor said this was normal, since he overcorrected the eyes to compensate for the healing process that tends to draw the eyes back inward.

Eli has also discovered pockets. He just looked too cute walking away from me with his hands in his pockets.

And here is my $0.12 spot of brightness. I decided to pick up some marked down flowers while doing some grocery shopping. After coupons and such, my total out of pocket was $0.12. I was pleasantly surprised.

One Week Check-up and ForMar

We took Eli for his one week check-up after surgery. The doctor said his eyes are healing as he would expect and to reduce the eye ointment to once a day for the next ten days.
After leaving the eye doctor's office, we had some time to kill before Trisha was out of school. We stopped by For-Mar Nature Preserve and let the boys play around in the visitor center. They truly enjoyed it.

On the way out I spotted a new butterfly/moth (haven't researched it yet). That was thrilling for me.

I also spotted this dragonfly.

Also on the drive out we stopped to check out the bird house I had seen the tree sparrow at early this spring. As I was ready to shoot an image, I was treated to the visit from the male tree sparrow. So excited to capture this image.

And here is mama tree sparrow sitting on the nest.
