Howell Nature Center / Wild Wonders Wildlife Park

Back on Sept. 20th, we took a trip down to Howell to walk the trails of the nature center there. We also were able to see the Wild Wonders Wildlife Park while we were there. This wildlife park only shows animals who are injured and no longer able to survive on their own out in the wild.

In the first picture is a Wood Duck. This duck also shares his exhibit with a couple of beavers. The Black-crowned Night Heron is across the path from the beaver exhibit. This habitat has a total of three separate areas in it. The Herons are in the center exhibit with Barred Owls on one side and a Northern Harrier Hawk on the other. However the other pictures did not come out very well so they are not posted.

Here we have the Bobcat. This poor guy looks so sweet. But then most things look innocent while sleeping. There were signs posted on the cage stating the Bobcat will bite. The sad thing about the Bobcat is that someone had him completely declawed, most likely in an attempt to domesticate him. Some People. Anyhow next is the Snowy Owl. At this point in the walk, I started to feel very nauseated. I tried to push through but things got worse. I did see the foxes but did not get any pictures of them. I decided that it was probably best for me to head back to the car and lie down and rest. I think the combination of eating shortly before going and that it was warmer out than I expected made for my stomach to act up. I am proud to say that I did not actually get sick though.

The rest of the pictures taken in the park were taken by Chris, since I told him to finish the walk.

Here is the Turkey Vulture and the Red Tailed Hawk.

Asa and Eli in front of the Barn Owl exhibit, then a closeup of the Barn Owl.

Asa and Eli in front of the Bald Eagle exhibit, then Chris saw this sign that reads Critter Corner and couldn't resist taking a picture of the boys in front of it.

Looking at the little waterfall at the entrance to the Wild Wonders Wildlife Park. If you didn't notice I used the picture of both boys looking at the waterfall as my new header.

Finally, time to go home. Asa is such a great driver. He never blinked once at all that traffic. He got us home safe and sound. Hehehe.

Greetings from Juneau (AK) Daily Photo!
What a neat adventure to take your boys on. Thanks for sharing some of the great animals that you got to see. The bobcat looks just like the lynx I use to see all the time when we lived in Nenana, Alaska.
Have a great day!:)

Beautiful owl photos!

Kids sure want to learn to drive earlier and earlier! I have ones of my daughter at about 1, sitting on daddy's lap ready to take off. Now she's 16 and really driving. Where do the years go?

Great shots especially that owl. Looks like the kids had fun and what a great place to give a home to injured animals who can't live in the wild anymore.
